Sensitivity of Natural Frequencies to Composite Effects in Reinforced Concrete Elements

چکیده
During the last two decades, investigations on the dynamic properties of structural elements have been the subject of numerous research works. The primary reason for this is the awareness and interest in using dynamic testing techniques for the purposes of health monitoring and damage detection for engineering structures. The dynamic properties of any structural element are governed by the relationship of the material properties and the boundary conditions. For steel, the dynamic properties relate to steel element properties, which are assumed to be the same under different load conditions, and its boundary conditions. For concrete elements, such as plain concrete, the dynamic properties are related to the behavior of the concrete element, which will have different behaviors under different load conditions, and its boundary conditions. Reinforced concrete (RC) elements have a composite effect due to the presence of different materials to form the RC elements. Therefore, in order to simplify the modeling of the mechanical behavior ofRCelements, the boundary conditions are assumed to be the same under different conditions for the purpose of this present study

Numerical investigation of composite shear walls with different types of steel and concrete materials as boundary elements
The main objective of this study was to numerically assess the effect of boundary elements with different types of steel and concrete materials on nonlinear behavior of composite steel–reinforced concrete wall (CSRCW) by employing ABAQUS software. Two types of common steel profiles including box and I-shaped sections, located at the middle and extremities of the wall, were employed to assess th...

In the present study, a new method for retrofitting reinforced concrete beam is introduced in which steel-concrete composite jackets containing steel fiber is used. For this purpose, 75% of the peripheral surface of reinforced concrete beams was initially reinforced using steel plates and bolts, and steel fiber reinforced concrete was used between the steel plates and the peripheral surfaces of...
متن کاملAnalysis of Natural Frequencies for a Laminated Composite Plate with Piezoelectric Patches using the First and Second Eigenvalue Derivatives
In this paper, the first and second order approximations of Taylor expansion are used for calculating the change of each natural frequency by modifying an arbitrary parameter of a system with a known amount and based on this approximation, the inverse eigenvalue problem is transformed to a solvable algebraic equation. The finite element formulation, based on the classical laminated plate theory...
متن کاملDynamic Characteristics of Joined Steel and Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastic Tubes: Experimental and Numerical Investigation
The fundamental frequencies and mode shapes of steel and carbon fiber–reinforced plastic (CFRP) cylindrical shells with steel inserts were investigated using finite element analysis and modal testing. The free-free boundary condition was tested with modal testing using the roving hammer method and verified by finite element analysis using ABAQUS. The results show good agreement between the test...
متن کاملDiscrepancies Between Free Vibration of FML and Composite Cylindrical Shells Reinforced by CNTs
In this study, discrepancies between the free vibration of fiber-metal laminate (FML) and composite cylindrical shells reinforced by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) based on Love’s first approximation shell theory have been considered by beam modal function model. The representative volume elements consist of three and four phases for composite and FML structures, respectively, which include fiber, CNT...
